Happy March 1st! Tonight I'm the featured author in a live chat over at NovelTalk. 9pm EST Please come if you can. I'd love to see some friendly faces, er, names.
Harlequin/Silhouette Bombshell author, Kelly Parra, interviewed me for her March slot of "Words of an Author". While you're there check out some of her interviews with other authors. "Words of an Author" is a great feature and I thank Kelly for including me!
Now some thoughts on treading dark, scary waters...
I'm working hard this morning on my first of the month updates to my web site. Trying to simplify the home page and better organize other pages. Not an easy task. Doubt I'll finish before I have to leave for work at the library, but at least I took the plunge.
Wrote close to 3 pages on the TCC 2 synopsis. 3 pages of drek, but at least I took the plunge.
Sometimes the mere thought of starting a new project leaves us paralyzed. The fear that we won't be able to or don't know how to tackle said project. Or the dread of how time consuming it will be. (The reason my garage remains a pack-rat disaster zone) I confess I drug my feet a couple of weeks on this particular synopsis. I didn't have a firm grip on the story. A lot of notions swirling around in my head. They would have continued to swirl if I hadn't started to pin them down on paper. I may not keep everything that I wrote yesterday, but it's helping to get the story straight in my mind. It's showing me that I HAVE a story. The simple fact that I have something on paper (or rather on my screen) makes the project less daunting. I know if I attack it day by day in whatever portions of time I have, if I keep swimming, before I long I'll reach the other side. Mission complete.
Don't let fear and dread keep you from starting or making progress on a project. Just do it. (Thanks for the reminder Taylor.) I wanted to start the synopsis by March 1 and I did. I'm on my way. Woo-hoo!
